Owners of Ragdale Hall health spa celebrate 21 years of involvement

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Big congratulations to Ragdale Hall owners Michael Isaacs and Penny Nesbitt, who recently celebrated twenty one years running their award-winning spa. We hope there was lots of cake in honour of the occasion!

Ragdale Hall was first opened in 1973 by Slimming Magazine, but was bought in 1990 by Michael Isaacs and Gary Nesbitt (Penny’s late husband). Since then the spa has seen the introduction of a variety of new facilities, including the impressive Thermal Spa, which opened in 2007. Featuring an unusual candle pool and a waterfall pool, the Thermal Spa is the perfect place to relax, unwind and refresh the body.

Over the years, Ragdale Hall has won a number of well-deserved awards, including the Best Spa in Europe 2007, Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Spa Awards 2010 Favourite UK Spa Retreat and Sunday Times Travel Magazine’s Readers’ Awards – Favourite UK Spa 2010.

Michael Isaacs says, ‘Ragdale Hall is a very special place and Penny and I are very proud to have been its custodians for the last 21 years. We have an incredible band of very loyal staff, many who have been with us from day one.  We are also very grateful for the support of so many loyal guests who come back time and time again’.

Fancy a celebratory trip to Ragdale Hall? Why not treat yourself to a pampering spa break. And whilst you are there, grab a copy of ‘Ragdale Hall – The Life and Times of an English Country House’ from the boutique and learn all about the Hall’s fascinating history.

Wahanda Launches Real Time Spa Bookings

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

For immediate release:  January 2011

With the majority of UK consumers now researching their spa breaks and spa holidays online, demand for ‘real time’ bookings is also rising and becoming increasingly important to spa operators as a means of capturing immediate sales.  Real time means that consumers can shop ‘live’ for the best deals without wasting valuable time and spa and hotel operators can benefit from instant confirmation on forward bookings.

Wahanda, the leading online community in spa, beauty and wellness which receives over 450,000 visitors a month to its site, will launch ‘real time’ dated bookings for spa breaks and spa hotels from February 2011. This means that consumers will be able to see real time availability for spa breaks and be able to book these directly with Wahanda.  Visitors to the site will be able to browse by date, location and price at venues throughout the UK and Europe.

For the spa and hotel operator, the process to become involved couldn’t be easier.  Each venue can add new offers at any time, and showcase a ‘live’ calendar of available dates and prices. Inventory can be easily managed within the Wahanda Extranet system to ensure maximum sales potential for dates that are yet to be filled. Perfect for last minute cancellations or off-peak periods.

Lopo Champalimaud, CEO of Wahanda says: “Consumer demand for wanting to book their spa breaks and holidays immediately means that the standard request system that most companies use has become outdated and misses out on important sales for operators.  Wahanda’s move to ‘real time’ bookings is part of our strategy to simplify the spa booking process and bring more immediate business to spa and hotel operators.”

Spa and hotel operators interested in joining Wahanda’s ‘real time’ booking service should contact supply.uk@wahanda.com.

Wahanda relaunches ‘services’ – price lists for your business

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Treatments, packages, and therapist-dependent pricing: a series of names and numbers that is difficult enough to perfect when dealing with your own listings, let alone Wahanda’s menu system, right? Wrong.

We realise how important being able to accurately show off your wonderful wares is to your businesses, and so we’ve given our menu structure a much-needed overhaul. Spas and salons of the nation, we present you with Services – the new and improved way of displaying and selling cuts, colours, manicures, massages and more on Wahanda.

So what (other than the name) has changed? Well, we thought you’d never ask…

  • You can now add full treatment menus (with prices) for free.

That’s right, if you are listed on Wahanda, you can now have your full treatment menu up for all to see on your profile page. You don’t have to have an enhanced listing, or accept the Wahanda voucher at your venue (though of course you’re welcome to); there’s no charge, no obligations and no strings attached. We’re simply giving you the chance to present a comprehensive list of everything you offer, making it visible to thousands of potential customers who visit the site each day.

  • It adds further personalisation to your page.

Stand out from the crowd by flaunting what makes you special. If you boast some of the country’s top Budokon classes or create in-demand Minx masterpieces, you can now make sure customers know exactly what you offer on your services page. Showcase your individual stylists, custom treatment combos and talents by listing more specific details about your business and attract loyal customers who know exactly what they want.

  • If you wish to, you can sell your menu online.

Drive up your sales and welcome hoards of new customers by upgrading to a premium profile, and as well as all the other fantastic benefits, Wahanda will allow you to sell your services directly through the site. We’ll cleverly tweak your menu and package listings so that with one click, customers can pocket packages, treatments and appointments without ever leaving your Wahanda page. You will of course be kept fully informed when it comes to purchases, and automatically notified about what services have been purchased when.

  • You can show up in on-site search results.

If you upgrade to a premium profile and start selling your services, customers will be able to browse through them with our search facility. When a Wahanda visitor searches for ‘fabulous highlights’, your hairdressing salon’s page will pop up, along with your entire catalogue of services. As they are quickly and easily able to see precisely what you do and how much you charge, it’ll hopefully result in them promptly deciding it’s you they want to tint and tame their tresses.

Simple and so much better, eh? We think so too. If you’d like to take advantage of purchasable menu options, feel free to drop us a line at supply.uk@wahanda.com and we’ll see to it so that the orders soon come flooding in. We’re at your service… and you’re welcome!

Chill Out Spa Crowned Knowsley’s ‘New Business of the Year’

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Most businesses wouldn’t dare to attempt a launch during the depths of a recession, but the team at Chill Out Spa (who did just that) have been rewarded for their efforts by being named New Business of the Year at the 8th Annual Knowsley Business Awards.

The awards ceremony took place at the Huyton Suite, Knowsley, and celebrated both emerging and well established business in the Knowsley area. Chill Out Spa fought off stiff competition, but the panel felt the that the originality of the company, the strength of their marketing initiatives, the remarkable efforts made in launching the business and its continued growth deserved recognition and so awarded them the title.

“We are absolutely delighted with our award,” said the spa owner, Sharon Carroll. “To be named New Business of the Year is just fantastic. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past 18 months, but even so, we were up against some great businesses in the category and it took us by surprise!”

Ms Carroll and her team went against the advice of trusted friends and respected business associates when they founded Chill Out Spa just as the credit crunch began to bite harder and the recession loomed. However, it is clear their hard work has paid off; as well as receiving the Business of the Year award, there are plans being laid down for expansion and the team is also looking to branch out and provide a wider range of services on site.

“The spa has gone from strength to strength,” added Sharon. “We’re constantly looking at ways to provide a unique and special service for all of our customers, and have been overwhelmed by the local support.”

To check out Chill Out Spa’s award winning ways yourself (and perhaps spend that Wahanda gift voucher that is burning a hole in your pocket), start by heading over to their dedicated Wahanda page.

British Beauty and Spa Awards 2009

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

beauty-awards1

It’s that time of the year again when the much anticipated finalists of the annual British Beauty and Spa awards are revealed.

2009 marks its thirteenth year, since the event was first launched in 1997 by the Health and Beauty Salon magazine.  The awards, which were originally set up to recognise and reward beauty and spa professionals have since become the beauty industry’s equivalent to the Oscars.

To be in with a chance of winning an award, salons, spas and individual therapists from across the country have to meet a strict criteria for the category they enter. Each entry has to put together a dossier of their work along with any evidence to back up claims, and send it to the event organisers, who ensure that the criteria is met.

The panel of judges, including representatives from the sponsoring companies and industry experts, than has the hard task of whittling down the entries to a shortlist of finalists.

Last year’s biggest winner was Zen Lifestyle, who scooped an impressive three awards in the categories of Salon of the Year, Regional Salon of the Year North West and Scotland and Retail Salon of the Year. Other winners on the night included Epitome Health and Beauty, Revival Retreat and Chessgrove Day Spa.
