Wahanda Tries…The Hypoxi Therapy Trainer

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

hypoxiBy Melissa Brobby.

Are you dreaming of a quick way to lose unwanted cellulite and inches from your bottom, hips and thighs without resorting to liposuction or six days a week at the gym?  Well, we at Wahanda also feel your pain, and that’s why we jumped at the chance to try out the latest piece of fitness technology that is taking the exercise world by storm – the Hypoxi Therapy Trainer.  Its aim is to target the fat stored in your hips, thighs and buttocks helping you to lose inches and reduce cellulite whilst firming your skin within a short space of time.  Sound too good to be true? We went along to The City Point Club in Moorgate, London to put it to the test.

Tempted to give it a go yourself? Why not book yourself in for a free session with our special offer?

Whether you’re struggling to drop a dress size, have tried to change your body shape but countless gym visits have shown no results, or you’re looking to achieve a great figure with very little effort, then Hypoxi could be for you.  Its wondrous benefits claim to include:

•    A noticeable reduction to the appearance of cellulite.
•    A naturally toned lower body.
•    Concentrated fat burn on the buttocks, hips and thighs that results in fast and effective weight loss.

It is estimated that around 90% of women are prone to gaining fatty deposits on the lower body thanks to poor circulation, and many find that numerous diets or visits to the gym do nothing to reduce the appearance of cellulite on the hips, thighs and buttocks, or shift the fat from those areas.  The Hypoxi Trainer tackles those problem areas using a unique combination of gentle exercise and vacuum therapy within a short space of time.

How does it work?

As you gently cycle within the machine, a vacuum below you generates a low atmospheric pressure to the hips, thighs and buttocks giving you the feeling you’re being sucked into a hole, but this triggers an increased flow of blood to these areas.  This helps break down fatty tissue as you exercise, and the fatty acids from the lower body only are then circulated around your body where they are burnt off as fuel for your muscles.

The increased blood, nutrition and oxygen supply to the lower body results in fast weight loss and reduction in cellulite from your hips, buttocks and thighs.  It is recommended to incorporate this treatment alongside a regular fitness regime for maximum results.

Each session lasts thirty minutes, and it’s recommended that this is done 3 or 4 times a week to really see a difference.  Once you have been weighed and measured before your first session, the amount you will need is determined by your consultant; however, the minimum number of sessions on the Hypoxi trainer is 12 which can cost from £400 to £500.  You will also be given a food recommendation plan to help prevent any weight you lose from returning when your sessions are over.

Don’t be disheartened if you can still see your cellulite after your first session as it is not a magic machine!  However, follow their recommended healthy eating plan, and use the machine 3 or 4 times a week, and who knows what transformation your lower half will take?  If it’s good enough for Cheryl Cole, it can work for you too!

Condé Nast Traveller Reader Spa Awards – the results are in!

Winner of the Best Day Spa in Britain

By Catriona Innes

Spas across the globe have been waiting with bated breath, hoping they’ll be honored with a prestigious Condé Nast Traveller Reader Spa Award. The well travelled readers of the magazine have been voting for everything from their favourite local spas to far flung retreats. Previous winners have included the luxurious Bulgari Spa in Milan and the modern Bliss Spa in Soho, New York. So, where have Condé Nast readers been primping and preening themselves this year? Read on to find out who was crowned queen of spas…

UK – the best of British spa-ing
The awards confirmed that you don’t have to fly half way across the world to be pampered. London came up trumps with Spa Illuminata in Mayfair winning the prize for Best Day Spa in Britain, while Surrey’s Grayshott Spa also walked away with the top prize for Best Spa Retreat. Up in the North, the ladies’ favourite Waterfall Spa in Leeds was awarded fifth place in the Best Day Spa category for its opulent surroundings where you can relax with a gourmet meal in between treatments.

Not only do we do well with our day spas, but we have so many amazing hotel spas that Condé Nast had to create a whole new category for them! The winner of the first Best Hotel Spa in Britain was the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park, London which was awarded for its top accommodation- and with a choice of six pillows and sumptuous Irish linen for guests to slumber in we can see why!

Overseas – Spa, spa away
Iceland’s natural resources were praised when the tranquil Blue Lagoon Spa waltzed away with the top prize for Best Medical Spa. Guests can bathe in geo-thermal sea water and shower beneath a waterfall at the all-natural retreat. Mayr&More in Austria was also awarded for its exquisite food and Adler Thermae in Tuscany for their fitness programmes.

The French and the Spanish are both renowned for achieving their glowing good looks without trying too hard and as a result they have produced some of the best spas in the world. Condé Nast readers especially loved Spa Nuxe in Paris, which won The Best Day Spa Overseas and The Spa at The Marques Riscal Hotel in Spain which won the Best Hotel Spa in Europe.

Scooping four nominations and winning the Best Hotel Spa in Asia and India, The Six Senses Spa chain should feel proud of their achievements.  It was their Earth Spa in Hua Hin, Thailand that won the trophy as readers said their body treatments were impossible to beat!
The most important prize of the night for Condé Nast Traveller’s Number One Spa in the World was awarded to the spa at Hotel Marques Riscal in Rioja, Spain (who also won the Best Hotel Spa in Europe.) It seems incorporating wine into your treatments provides a winning formula…

So, next time you’re feeling a bit low and need a spa pick-me-up trust the readers of Condé Nast Traveller and choose one of their recommended spas. You’re bound to leave feeling relaxed, revived and ready to cast your vote for next year’s awards.

Here’s what Wahanda member amyss had to say about the May event:

‘Overall, the facial treatment felt great, the service was top notch, the location is fab and the actual clinic itself is clean, bright and rather white. As for their products, I would love to have invested in some of their skin care range that I was recommended because I definitely think it would have helped my skin but unfortunately it was just slightly out of my price range. But for those of you who do have the cash – this is the place to splash for the ultimate beauty therapy!

Don’t miss out on this pampering offer – book now!

If you can’t make time for your free consultation and facial, find out how you can be involved in our future offers and how to get invited to Wahanda events.

‘Sweatox’ relieves hot Britons as temperatures soar

Sweatox - botox for sweatingWe all know that sweating is not particularly attractive but trying to control a dewy forehead or the moistness under your arm isn’t an easy task.  As experts issued health warnings this week to stay cool and keep protected, the heat is on which is why the Harley Medical Group declared the start of the ‘Sweatox Season’. It seems that some people are going to extreme measures to stop being sweaty this summer. The new trend is to go under the needle for a quick fix to zap away sweat, leaving you feeling fresh and fabulous.

What is Sweatox?
Sweatox is the name penned by the Harley Medical Group for anti-sweat botox treatments which have seen a dramatic increase in this unusual British heatwave.

This summer, the ‘Sweatox season’ has been brought forward because of the early and even unexpected summer heat. The Harley Medical Group has seen ‘Sweatox’ bookings outnumbering last year’s. Larger cities like London, Manchester and Chelmsford have seen the biggest increase in this new trend and people are flocking to get their pits and hands sweat free by using this famous treatment.

Sweatox can relieve sweat in the typically sweaty areas of the body, including:
•         Palms of the hands
•         Under arms
•         Chest
•         Soles of the feet

Dove Spa

If you’d like to give this anti-sweat treatment a go why not take a look at where you can get your dose of botox. But, if  ‘Sweatox’ is not for you then check out Wahanda’s top ten tips to stay cool and stress free this summer.

  1. Peak sun is a no no! Try to stay away from the sun between peak times 12-3 in the afternoon.
  2. Spritz on the go. Carry a moisture spritz in your bag to give yourself a much needed cool down on the go or why not try out the Dove Detox offer that uses a body scrub containing cooling peppermint oil.
  3. Hide your head. Hats are big in the fashion stakes this season and practical too, so hide your head in the sun and look stylish all at the same time.
  4. Dress cool. Now, we don’t mean dressing by the Vogue fashion guidelines with your key pieces- wearing a heavy suit in this heat can be seriously uncomfortable so opt for light weight and loose fit clothing.
  5. Pools are cool. Pop down to your local swimming pool to cool down either on your lunch break or after a hard day’s work.
  6. Water, water, water. Carry water at all times to keep hydrated and cool.
  7. Take time out. Take time to pamper yourself when the heat is on and stress levels are rising. Yoga is known to have a calming influence and keeps you fit too. Or keep calm with a relaxing massage.
  8. Retreat to cooler climates. If you really cannot stand this heat then why not retreat to a relaxing spa in the coolest country Iceland. The Blue Lagoon offers a range of treatments from Mud baths to Swedish massage.
  9. Spice is nice. A top tip for keeping cool is eating spicy foods. Spicy food stimulates your appetite, circulation and raises body temperature, making you sweat more therefore making you cooler.  Maybe that’s why in countries like Mexico and India their food is heavily influenced by hot spices.
  10. Sexy for summer. Keeping fit and healthy will make you happier in the summer months when you’re able to wear your favourite bikini or favourite summer mini dress. There are plenty of things to try including an all over body work out doing pole dancing or if you’d rather not work so hard try one of Wahanda’s free sessions of Power Plate.
