Signature Facial at Amanda Lacey
If you want your skin looking beautifully bright and suitably sparkly, and let’s face it - who doesn’t, Amanda Lacey’s Signature Facial should be at the top of your Wahanda wishlist. As the name suggests, this totally bespoke treatment is tailored to your skin-type, so whether you want a pre-party plumper or post-revelry refresher, this is just the tonic. It’s also the very same reason Wahanda decided to hotfoot it down to the Amanda Lacey Clinic. After a night of standing face-to-face with a roaring bonfire, sipping on Hot Toddy’s, our features were crying out for some TLC, after some serious exposure to the fierce winter elements.
Tucked away on Walton Street, just a short stroll from Harrods, we found the clean, serene surroundings of Amanda Lacey’s flagship store and clinic. Decked out in white, with gleaming surfaces and polished glass shelves showcasing her very own product range, the interior is instantly calming, and despite having a more clinical feel than some darker, incense-filled pampering parlours, it still has plenty of plush attributes to its name – including the velvet-padded pouffe and secret door leading to the main treatment room.
A favourite with A-listers and celebs, Amanda’s healing hands have spruced-up the skin of stars all over the world, including Gwyneth Paltrow and George Clooney, so we weren’t surprised to hear that the secret treatment room was out-of-bounds when we arrived. If only we could have had a sneaky peak, who knows whose mug-shot we’d have seen staring back up at us? Instead we were led down a gorgeous spiral staircase to treatment room number two where we made ourselves cosy under the fluffy covers and waited for our facial to begin. Our therapist - Liz, soon started working her magic with a customised cleansing routine, followed by a totally unique paraffin-wax face mask. A bizarre sensation, the warm wax was brushed over our face, left to harden and then gently peeled off in one fell swoop. Often resigned to manicures and pedicures, the wax used is Amanda’s own variant on that used for your fingers and toes, but it still softens the skin and draws out toxins in exactly the same way.
Lying with our feet up in the heated chair, our face ripe and ready for priming, Liz even asked if we’d like a quick eyebrow trim while the magical products got to work pumping our skin full of goodness and cleaning out our pores. All part of the process (we wouldn’t want you thinking Wahanda has bushy eyebrows!), it’s the little extras that make a treatment stand-out and add to the five-star calibre. Then, just when we thought we’d arrived in seventh heaven, Liz ended the facial with a lymphatic drainage massage to stimulate the skin and restore its natural radiance.
Leaving the treatment room was like leaving our beds on an early Monday morning – horrific, but luckily Liz was on hand to give us a warm mug of peppermint tea to revive the senses, and within minutes we were skipping back through Knightsbridge on our way to the Wahanda offices. One of the most indulgent treatments we’ve ever experienced, and trust us, we’ve tried a few - our skin hasn’t stopped glowing since.
