Limbo class at Gymbox
When Wahanda were asked if they’d like to try their hand at a brand new limbo exercise class at Gymbox we jumped at the chance, but five minutes in, we quickly realised this was more than a bit of frivolous fun – and we’ve got the aching arms and legs to prove it.
If the thought of shimmying your way round a room makes you shudder, don’t panic – the actual art of limbo-ing under the pole only makes up about 10% of the class – instead the pole is used as a benchmark for all the other moves you’re made to perform. And just in case you have visions of one limbo pole and a big long line of people, everyone has their own equipment, so you can work at your own pace and level (literally).
Combining a whole host of different exercises, you’ll use the pole in ways that would never even have crossed your mind before. From ducking under the pole side-to-side packing punches as you go, to jumping over it in series of quick successions, you can’t not work every muscle in your body. You’ll also get to try your hand at doing press-ups and lunges over the pole, and sit-ups and squats underneath, as well as a sprinkling of easy-to-perform dance moves.
And although hardcore gym bunnies might scoff at a lesson of limbo, those looking for a bit of fun with the possibility of losing a few pounds along the way will be hooked.
The Limbo classes in association with Ryvita Limbos are being held at Gymbox Bank, every Tuesday evening at 6.45pm.
